John T. Nielsen, Founder and CEO
John has over 20 years’ experience in the security industry specializing in digital video. As lead engineer and engineering manager for both Lenel and United Technologies Corporation Fire and Security (“UTC”), John designed and developed the OnGuard™ digital video platform, including digital video recorders, network video recorders, and all associated client software. UTC is a global leader in fire safety and security solutions that help protect people, property, and assets the world over. John is listed as a patent holder of the Enterprise-Level Distributed Multi-Server Security System™, which helped UTC springboard its industry-leading Open Alliance Program™. As lead of this effort, Mr. Nielsen designed and developed UTC’s “Open Video Protocol” and its application programming interface (API), providing digital video manufacturers with a standard allowing them to seamlessly integrate their video recorders and cameras. In support of these integration efforts, John collaborated with the industry’s top digital video manufacturers and their products, such as Variant, Loronix, DVTel, Nice, Dedicated Micros, Object Vision, etc.
Mr. Nielsen also initiated UTC’s digital video analytics and its associated alliance integration program, bringing technologies such as object recognition to the digital video recorder industry. His lectures and educational recording for UTC’s video surveillance resellers and integrators helped educate more than 300 integrators on the latest video technologies.
As an expert in the field of video surveillance, John has lectured at some of the top security shows around the globe, including ASIS, ISC West, ISC East, IFSEC, and Essen. He was a keynote speaker at the Norwegian Security Conference for the European Security Integrators. His experience and knowledge was leveraged as a consultant for numerous end users, including such companies as Cisco, Microsoft, Global Crossing, Lotus, Bank of Norway, US Department of the Navy, Petroleos de Venezuela S.A. (Venezuela’s petroleum industry), and numerous others.
